Hiking In The Mountains

I did that from 9 am to 4 pm today. We started in Shing Mun Country Park, headed north and finished at Tai Po Kau. It's tiring - lots of ups and downs, but very relaxing with amazing views.

Hong Kong parks have wild monkeys. They're so mischievous. If they see you carrying a plastic bag, they'll grab it from you, knowing there's food in it. The baby monkeys are adorable, clinging to their mothers. There were tons of them today. It was such a good weather that they came out to sunbathe. There's also wild cows in the parks. They, too, are adorable. If you don't harm them, they won't harm you and you can go as close as you want to them.

There are little creeks to cross, when you decide to go off the path. While crossing one of them, my left foot slipped and fell right in the water. Luckily, I didn't fully fall in. The water is really refreshing, but oof, not good. The weather was good so my sock, shoe, and pants leg dried up quick.

I almost accidentally stepped on a poisonous centipede. It's about 6 inches long! My aunt threw a couple of rocks to kill it because a person can die from its sting. My other aunt threw a rock on it and then squished it. It was pretty gruesome.

If you like butterflies, there's tons at the parks. There's also lots of dragonflies, moths and little buzzing things. All of which are pretty much harmless.

Hiking in Hong Kong is a must for anyone who comes here. The natural beauty of this place is astounding, in contrast to the crowded cities and skyscrapers.
